Programming and computational thinking in primary education
Computational thinking and related topics such as programming, algorithmic reasoning and robotization have been increasingly in the spotlight in education in the Netherlands and abroad in recent years. This study examined how a personalized learning arrangement around programming contributes to computational thinking skills and motivation with regard to programming and technology. The results show that students had higher computational thinking skills after the programming lessons than before. In addition to computational thinking skills, motivation for programming also improved.

Personalized learning with ICT at De Marke primary school
This study examined the practical design of personalized learning with ICT at De Marke primary school. The role of self-regulation and motivation of students was taken into account. The study shows that De Marke primary school has succeeded in designing personalized learning with ICT in a way that works for both students and teachers. The math coach who was used in the study came across during the observations and interviews as a subject specialist who has a considerable amount of knowledge regarding personalized learning with ICT for the subject of math. During the observations, students in the upper grades were concentrated, active and working independently or participating in the instruction. In addition to the motivation for math, the level of self-regulation was also reasonably high among the students. Students worked on their own planning, partly monitored their own progress and tried to find solutions themselves if they got stuck during math work.

Learning to program in primary education: A study into the effects of a learning arrangement around programming on the computational thinking skills of primary school pupils.
Computational thinking and related subjects such as programming, algorithmic reasoning and robotization have been increasingly in the spotlight in education in the Netherlands and abroad in recent years. This is also receiving increasing attention in primary education. Computational thinking is a way of thinking and problem solving, in which problems are divided into steps that can be partly performed by a computer (or robot, etc.).
Within the Conexus Foundation, research has been conducted into promoting computational thinking in primary school pupils through programming education. This report describes the research and the results. The research was made possible by a subsidy within the framework of the national research project Doorbraak Onderwijs & ict.
